Your information
Privacy notice
Last updated 20 October 2026
Pearl & Paper is a small stationery studio in Sussex, UK. This notice explains what information we collect when you use this website or get in touch, why, and the choices you have. We are the controller of your personal data under UK data protection law. Contact: enquiries@pearlandpaper.co.uk.
1. Enquiries & orders
When you send an enquiry or place an order, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, phone number if you give one at checkout, the occasion, paper choice, date, quantity and your message. For orders this may also include a postal address and the wording to be printed, which can include other people’s names, such as a couple’s or a child’s name on an organisation chart.
We use this only to reply to you, prepare quotes and proofs, make and post your order, and keep the records the law requires. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing that contract, and meeting legal obligations such as keeping accounts. We never sell your information or use it for marketing without your permission.
2. Visitor statistics
To understand which designs and parts of the site people find most useful, the site records simple, anonymous statistics:
- the pages you view and which sections you scroll to;
- clicks on things like design previews, filters, questions, the Enquire button and links to Etsy or Instagram;
- the website that linked you here (its name only), and whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer;
- your approximate location (town, region and country), worked out from your internet connection;
- a random ID kept in your browser, so a return visit isn’t counted as a new visitor.
We don’t record your name, email address, IP address or exact location in these statistics, and they are never used to identify you or for advertising. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website, and storing the random ID is for statistical purposes only. You can switch this off at any time below; we also automatically respect your browser’s “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” setting.

3. Services we use
A few trusted providers help run the site. They handle data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies:
- Web3Forms delivers enquiry form messages and new-order notifications to our email inbox.
- hCaptcha checks that enquiries come from a person, not a bot. It may collect information about your device and browser to do this.
- Supabase stores the anonymous visitor statistics described above, and orders placed in the website shop (what you ordered, your wording, contact details and delivery address).
- Stripe takes payment for website shop orders. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us; we receive your name, email, phone number, delivery address and confirmation of payment. Stripe’s own privacy policy also applies.
- GeoJS works out an approximate town and country from your internet connection for those statistics. Your IP address is sent to GeoJS for this lookup but is never stored by us.
- GitHub Pages hosts this website and, like any web host, processes your IP address to deliver pages to you.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts used on this site, so your browser connects to Google to load them.
- Etsy and Instagram: if you follow a link to them, their own privacy policies apply.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legally recognised safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
4. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to an order: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Order details: for as long as needed to complete your order, and then up to 6 years for tax and accounting records.
- Visitor statistics: up to 13 months.
5. Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email enquiries@pearlandpaper.co.uk; we’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
6. Changes
We’ll update this notice if the way we use information changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top of the page. See also our terms & conditions.
